Day Two Sunday 17th George to Albertinia ![]() Day 2 of the tour dawned cloudy and cool and the guys get off as early as they can after packing up and vacating the chalets at the George Tourist Resort. ![]() ![]() Today the destination is
Albertinia, a small town just off the N2, fa mous for its Aloe factories
producing health and beauty products. The distance is a daunting 101km, and although there are no mountain passes, there are some significant climbs, like Maalgate on the R101, about 10km out from the start, and the long climb up out of Mossel Bay en route to the N2. At Aloe Ferox Guest Lodge, Dolly & Quartus Coetzee put
on a very welcome spread of fresh fruits, sandwiches and drinks to
welcome the handcyclists to Albertinia. Quartus had done a sterling job
making some of the rooms accessible with ramps and promises that by
next year he will have completed the rest of the ramps so we can bring
more handcyclists! ![]() ![]() Everyone was very quiet after their first long day on the road, more resting and sleeping than partying as everyone contemplated the route for the next day. Report for Day Three, Monday 18th February |
