Well, everyone enjoyed the 2009 handcycle tour so much that we decided to keep the route the same for 2010.

The first day is the OCC street handcycle race in George - just 42km to get you warmed up. The next four days will remain the same as 2008, George to Albertinia, Albertinia to Riversdale via Stilbaai, Riversdale to Ladismith over Garcia Pass and Ladismith to Oudtshoorn. Then day six will be Oudtshoorn back to George via the Robinson Pass. This keeps us off the narrow busy N9 and unfortunately also off the awesome but busy Outeniqua Pass.

Due to limited availability of wheelchair accessible accommodation, there is limited space for permanent wheelchair users, so if you are keen to ride the Toer de Kaap 2010, drop us an email: hilaryl@ghrc.co.za but dont leave it too late. Or if you are certain you will ride, download the Expression Of Interest Form, complete it and mail it back to us - if you are a first time rider you will need to provide a doctors certificate of fitness as well.

Once again, this is a tour, with the emphasis on training and having FUN! This is not a flat out race, in fact its not a race at all so there is no official start time or start line. Just come on out and have some fun in the sun!

View it as an huge awesome training opportunity, but remember that the terrain and the temperatures make this an extreme event. In 2009, the temperature on the 5th day reached 49 deg C. Rain is also a distinct possibility. Remember, this is South Africa, so you need to be prepared to experience all four seasons in one day!
